Tuesday Trigger: Porch Play
Image via Pinterest
This April 12 Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab World inspired the “Blast From The Past” scrapbook pages (and a few cards). The color combination was old fashioned and fun. I couldn’t find background paper I liked so I stamped flourishes onto Bazzill Classic Red to make my own. Then I used turquoise as the main accent color with yellow as the secondary accent color. I discovered that I needed to use a bright turquoise color or the combination didn’t work.
Those jelly jewels are from Martha Stewart. They look like little candies to me (or is it just my sweet tooth?). There was old fashioned music playing, we won old fashioned candy as prizes and we played old fashioned games. CJ and Carol did a fabulously old fashioned job putting this all together.
The tails are from an old QuicKutz Pin the Tail on the Donkey die. I bought it to make donkeys for our visit to Cripple Creek , but it certainly came in handy here.
I traced the vase on vellum from a stamp, then outlined with a black marker and cut out. Tip -- you can buy a bag of mini clothespins in the wood section of a craft store for less than a small package in a scrapbook store.
Sorry for the focus – it looked good on the camera. My husband joked that he wanted all the pennies back after the page was taken down from the bulletin board. Real items (pennies, stamps, etc.) are sometimes less expensive than their copies sold as embellishments.
I had never played Pick-Up Sticks before – it is harder and more fun than it looks. I originally bought some tiny wood sticks to color for this page, and then discovered toothpicks colored with sharpies work just as well and are cheaper. I remember seeing already colored toothpicks in the past but I don’t know if they are still made. How often do you need to buy toothpicks after all? J
While I still had everything out, I made a few cards using the same theme. Since I had already cleaned and put away my flourish stamp, I used a smaller one from Hero Arts for the envelopes. All cards must have coordinating envelopes, mustn’t they?
